The Ram cross country teams competed in the Leon Fox Cross Country Invitational Thursday in Perry. “While our placing wasn’t as high as we would like for both boys and girls, if you look at our times, the kids did really well,” coach Jeff Lamoureux said.
Several runners set personal records, led by Connor Brus with a time of 19:06, and Conner Allender, who came in under the 23:00 mark for the first time.
Brus finished in 44th place in the boys race. Jack Bryson finished in 57kth with a time of 19:53, followed by Logan Woodruff in 62nd place with a time of 20:06. Other Ram places and times were Luis Velazco, 69th, 20:25; Trevor Lebeck, 75th, 20:59; Brian Hardaway, 83rd, 21:35; and Jayden Carstensen, 85th, 21:38.
Team scores for the boys were Madrid 46, Roland-Story 70, Ballard 91, Bondurant-Farrar 100, AD 112, Winterset 178, Saydel 220, Perry 242, Boone 252, Kuemper Catholic 270, Creston 271, Des Moines North 301, and Greene County 307.
In the girls race, Allender’s time of 22:59 was good for 28th place. Ashlee Harmeyer finished in 40th place with a time of 23:21, with Kassie Lamoureux in 43rd place in 23:25. Makala Kafer was in 47th place in 23:56.
Kirsten Lamoureux was in 99th place in 28:25.65, and Tieryn Tucker was 17 hundredths of a second behind her in 100th place.
Team scores in the girls race were Ballard 23, Creston 69, Winterset, 92, Roland-Story 161, Bondurant-Fararr 175, Perry 178, Madrid 186, ADM 187, Greene County 215, Des Moines North 230. and Boone 274.
Next up for the Ram runners is the South Central Calhoun meet on Tuesday.
